Terms of Use
Last updated: 1 October 2026
The short version
- The decoder explains youth slang to parents and educators. Much of it is written by AI and can be wrong.
- It is not a crisis or counselling service. In an emergency call 000.
- Accounts are for adults (18 or over) only.
- Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time, and your first payment is refundable within 14 days (see our Refund Policy).
- Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other consumer law.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
The Gen Alpha Decoder (translate-easy.com) is provided by Customer Experience Insight Pty Ltd (ABN 61 634 039 759), trading as WA AI Hub, a company in Western Australia (“we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and us. They apply when you use the website, create an account or buy a plan. Our Refund Policy, Privacy Policy and Children's Policy form part of this agreement. If you use the service for a school or business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.
2. What this service is
The Gen Alpha Decoder helps parents and educators understand youth slang. Definitions, sensitivity ratings, translations and discussion prompts are generated in part by AI, are labelled as such, and are provided for general informational and educational purposes. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Use your own judgment, especially before discussing sensitive topics with young people. They are not professional, legal, medical or psychological advice.
The decoder is not a counselling, crisis or emergency service, and we can't reply to what you type into it. If you or someone else is in danger, call 000. Support services are listed on our Safety page.
3. Who can use it, and accounts
You can use the decoder without an account. Accounts are for adults (parents, carers and educators) aged 18 or over; we do not offer accounts to children. When you create an account you confirm that you are 18 or over, and that the details you give us are accurate. If we find out that an account belongs to someone under 18 we will close it and delete its data (see the Children's Policy).
Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for activity under your account unless it results from our failure to take reasonable care, and you should tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it. One account is for one person. A free account raises your daily AI prompt allowance and is required for paid plans. You can delete your account at any time from the account page.
4. Plans, trials and billing
- Prices. All prices are shown in Australian dollars, exclusive of GST. GST is calculated and added at checkout, and the exact total is shown before you pay. We issue a tax invoice or receipt for each payment.
- Payment. Payment is collected by our payment processor, using the payment method you provide at checkout. Your card details go directly to the processor. It may screen payments for fraud and may decline one it assesses as high risk.
- Automatic renewal. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, as you chose) at the then-current price until you cancel. The period, price and renewal date are shown before you pay and on your account page. We (through our payment processor) send a reminder before a yearly renewal.
- Free trials. Educator and School plans include a 14-day free trial, once per account. A payment method is required to start the trial, but you are not charged until the trial ends. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing. We email you before the trial converts to a paid subscription. Decoder Plus has no trial.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account page; it is as easy as signing up and doesn't need a phone call or a reason. Cancellation stops future charges, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
- Deleting your account ends any active subscription immediately. We don't refund the remaining period except under the Refund Policy or where the law requires. If you would rather keep access until the end of your paid period, cancel first and delete your account later.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, our payment processor retries it. Your access continues during the retry period; if payment ultimately fails, the subscription is cancelled and you are told.
- School licences cover up to 50 teacher accounts in one school workspace. The licence holder is responsible for who they invite and for their staff following these terms. Invoice or purchase order billing is available on request; invoices are payable within 30 days unless we agree otherwise.
- Price changes. If we change a plan's price, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal. If you don't accept it, cancel before then and you will not be charged the new price.
5. Fair use
Term lookups are unlimited on every plan. AI discussion prompt generation is limited to 3 sets a day for visitors and 10 for free accounts. Paid plans include up to 200 generations per day per user. That cap is there to stop automated abuse, not to limit normal use; if you reach it we tell you clearly and it resets at midnight UTC. Prompts you have already generated stay available. We don't silently slow down or degrade the service.
6. Acceptable use
Don't abuse the service: no automated scraping of the AI features, no sharing of one account between many people to avoid paying, no attempts to overwhelm, probe or circumvent rate limits or security, no reverse engineering, and no use of the service to generate or spread harmful content or to harass, profile or identify anyone, especially a child or student.
7. Content you give us
When you suggest a term, give feedback, report a definition or write a lesson plan, don't include: anything illegal; sexual content involving anyone under 18; threats, or content promoting suicide, self-harm, eating disorders or violence; content that bullies, harasses or identifies a real person, especially a child or student; other people's personal information; or material you don't have the right to share.
You keep ownership of what you submit. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, review, adapt, edit and publish it (for a term suggestion) or to host and display it to you (for a lesson plan or other private content), as needed to run and improve the service. You promise you have the right to give us that licence. If you ask us to remove a published suggestion we will, unless we must keep a record by law.
8. How we moderate content
- A person reviews every term suggestion before it can be published.
- Automated safety checks (a keyword check and an AI safety classifier) look for topics such as self-harm, sexual exploitation, violence and bullying. Content they flag, and AI-written terms rated mature, offensive or vulgar, are checked by a person before others can see them. Flagged content is shown with support services.
- Anyone can use “Report this definition”, without an account. A person reviews every report and may correct, restrict or remove the content.
- We may refuse or remove content that breaks these terms or the law. Where the law requires or permits it, we report it and preserve it for the eSafety Commissioner, police or the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation. If you have an account and we remove your content, we will tell you why when we can (unless the law stops us), and you can ask us to review the decision through our contact page.
- If what someone types suggests a risk of serious harm to them or others, we keep a safety record and may share it with emergency services or police, as described in our Privacy Policy.
To report illegal or harmful content, use the report button, our Safety page, or email safety@wahub.ai.
9. Our content and intellectual property
We and our licensors own the service, its software, design, lexicon and the content we write. Subject to these terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service and to print or save the content for your own parenting, teaching or classroom use. You may use lesson plans you create for your own teaching and share printed copies with students and colleagues. You may not resell the content, copy the lexicon in bulk or build a competing database from it. AI-generated text may be similar to text generated for other people, and we make no claim to own it as against you beyond the rights above.
10. Privacy and children
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, including overseas processing and automated decisions. The service is built for adults. Our Children's Policy explains what we do, and don't do, where a child uses it. Schools and educators must not put students' personal information into the service.
11. Availability, changes and ending your access
We work to keep the service available but don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may change or withdraw features. If we withdraw a paid feature in a way that materially reduces what you paid for, or if we end your paid plan for any reason other than your breach of these terms, we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, or if the law requires; where it is reasonable we will warn you first and tell you why. You can stop using the service at any time.
12. Consumer guarantees and liability
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For example, services must be provided with due care and skill, be fit for any purpose you made known to us, and be supplied within a reasonable time. For a major failure you are entitled to cancel the service and a refund for the unused part, or compensation for the drop in value. You are also entitled to compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If a failure isn't major, you are entitled to have it fixed in a reasonable time, and if we don't, to cancel and receive a refund for the unused part. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights, and nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent the law permits, we are not liable for loss arising from your reliance on AI-generated or other content, for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control (including failures of internet, hosting, payment or AI providers). If you are using the service for a school or business, and not as a consumer, our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee that can be limited is, at our option, limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again, and our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to what you paid us in that period. If you give us content that breaks Section 7, you are responsible for loss we suffer from third-party claims that result from it, to the extent you caused it.
13. Consumers outside Australia
The service is directed at Australia and priced in Australian dollars. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom or elsewhere, these terms don't take away mandatory consumer protections that apply to you where you live. This includes, for consumers in the European Union, the right to withdraw from a paid purchase within 14 days, which is explained in our Refund Policy.
14. Complaints and disputes
If you are unhappy, tell us through our contact page. We will acknowledge it within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If we can't resolve it, you can contact the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (Consumer Protection) in Western Australia, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, or your local consumer authority. Billing disputes can also be raised with your card issuer. Nothing here stops you going to a court or tribunal.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia. This doesn't take away any rights you have under the consumer or privacy laws of the place where you live, or any right you have to sue in your home courts.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service and the law evolve; the date above reflects the latest revision. If a change is material and you have an account, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies to you. If you don't accept a change that disadvantages you, you can cancel your plan before it applies, and we will refund the unused part of any period you have paid for. Continuing to use the service after the change applies means you accept it.
17. General
These terms, with the policies they refer to, are the whole agreement between us about the service. If a part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a right at once doesn't waive it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours to a successor of the business if we tell you and your rights are not reduced. We give notices by email to your account address or on this website. For questions, contact us.
