Delulu

Definition

Short for 'delusional.' It describes someone who holds unrealistic or overly idealistic beliefs, especially regarding their chances in a romantic relationship, their level of fame, or their potential for success. It can be used self-deprecatingly or as a gentle jab at someone else.

Examples

• She thinks that celebrity is in love with her because he liked her comment, she's so delulu.
• My delulu self thought I could finish the entire project in one night.
• Being a little delulu is the solulu (solution).

Origin & Context

Originated in K-pop fan communities to describe fans with unrealistic fantasies about their favorite idols. It has since spread to mainstream internet culture as a way to talk about wishful thinking.

While often used playfully, it can sometimes be used to dismiss someone's hopes or ambitions. Context is key.
